Orthopedic Surgeries

If your pet is limping, slowing down, or seems uncomfortable when walking or running, it may be due to an orthopedic issue such as a torn ligament, joint instability, or arthritis. At Douglassville Veterinary Hospital, we provide specialized orthopedic surgery to relieve pain, restore movement, and help your pet get back to living life comfortably.

Personalized Orthopedic Care

Orthopedic conditions can stem from injury, age-related wear and tear, or inherited problems. No matter the cause, our team will carefully evaluate your pet’s condition and recommend the most effective surgical option to improve their mobility and quality of life.

We proudly offer the following orthopedic surgeries

Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA)

This procedure is used to treat cruciate ligament tears by stabilizing the knee joint and altering the forces acting on it. It’s typically recommended for select dogs with specific knee structure and activity levels.

Lateral Suture Stabilization

Femoral Head and Neck Ostectomy (FHO)

Medial Patellar Luxation (MPL) Repair

Amputation (Thoracic or Pelvic Limb)

What to Expect: Before, During & After Surgery

Before any orthopedic surgery, we perform a full physical exam and pre-surgical bloodwork to ensure your pet is healthy enough for anesthesia. During the procedure, your pet will be under general anesthesia and carefully monitored by our team.

Recovery can take several weeks and typically includes restricted activity, pain management, and follow-up care. We’ll provide detailed instructions to guide you through the healing process and refer you back to your primary veterinarian for long-term rehab and recovery support.

The Benefits of Orthopedic Surgery

Surgical treatment can dramatically improve your pet’s comfort and mobility. Benefits include:

  • Relief from chronic pain
  • Better joint function and stability
  • Reduced risk of further injury or degeneration
  • A happier, more active life for your pet
