Dr. JoAnn DeWire
Dr. Joann DeWire graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1988, where she was a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honors Society. Dr. DeWire attended Albright College and graduated in 1975 with a BS in Biology and Chemistry. She continued her education by spending one year in Pharmacy School at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. Dr. DeWire spent 9 years in private practice before opening Douglassville Veterinary hospital in September of 1997.
Veterinary Nursing Staff
Chelsea graduated from Alvernia University in 2013 with a bachelors of science in biochemistry. Shortly after, she then graduated from the LCCC/NCC veterinary technician program in 2016 with an associates degree in veterinary technology. She will take her boards exam this November to become a certified vet tech. Chelsea has a special interest in veterinary oncology, which she hopes to specialize in in the near future.
Tiffany, one of our lead technicians, joined the Douglassville team in May 2014. She has been in the veterinary field for over 15 years and has special interests in pain management, anesthesia, and dentistry. When not taking care of your pets, Tiffany enjoys being active outside and spending time with her husband, Brian and children, Hannah and Thomas. She also has 2 fur kids, a cat named Kitty and a mixed breed canine, Pumpkin.
Beth has been a veterinary technician for 16 years and started at Douglassville Veterinary Hospital in July 2001. Beth graduated from Becker Junior college where she majored in Animal Care Management. She is certified in both canine massage and pet first aid. Beth is our veterinary hospital’s head anesthesia technician. When Beth is not at work, she donates her technical skills to local animal shelters. Beth has two children (Caitlin and Conner) and she enjoys watching them participate in local sports. Beth is an avid field hockey player and coaches in her free time.
Courtney received her bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medical Technology from Wilson College in 2014. She passed the national board exam in 2015 to become a certified veterinary technician. Courtney likes to read, hike, and volunteer with Fairchild Feral Friends Foundation. Courtney currently lives with her Golden Retriever and two rabbits.
Megan graduated 2010 from the Veterinary Technician program at Lehigh Carbon Community College with an associate’s degree in applied science. She joined Douglassville Veterinary Hospital in 2014. Megan enjoys working with small animals and client education. When not at work, she enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing and archery.
Denise has been a Veterinary Assistant at Douglassville Veterinary hospital since 2005. She completed the Veterinary assistant program at Reading Area Community College in 2004. Her lifelong love passion for animal welfare has made this a perfect career choice. Denise is married with 2 grown sons. Her hobbies are antiquing, hiking, and researching her family tree. She also loves to spend time with her horse Montee, and dog Lacie.
